Eight hours, a van of eight people and two hours at Pena, followed by Sintra town, Cabo da Roca and the Cascais bay.
Updated 18 October 2026
Eight hours, four proper stops and two drive-by sights, in an air-conditioned minivan with up to eight passengers and a local expert guide. It starts from €49 and carries 4.8 ★ (8054 reviews), the most reviewed day trip listed on this site. Meeting is in front of the Hard Rock Cafe in central Lisbon; hotel pick-up is not part of this one, and neither are food and drinks.
Tickets are the one thing to settle at the moment you book. Pena Palace entry is included only with the option "Tickets Park & Palace Included". Park entry and the guided park visit come with that option or with "Tickets Pena Park Included". Quinta da Regaleira is included only with "Upgrade to include Regaleira", and that upgrade cuts Cascais from 90 to 60 minutes.
Pick the no-tickets option and same-day palace tickets may be limited or unavailable. The interior runs on timed slots with a daily cap on visitor numbers, and a ticket admits you on the exact date and time printed on it: no early entry, no grace period if you are late. Pena park and palace drew about 1.9 million visitors in 2025, and the slots fill well before the day.
Private cars cannot reach the monument at all. The Rampa da Pena, the final approach road, is permanently closed to private vehicles and is used by public transport, and the historic centre is restricted to residents. Under the traffic measures announced in July 2026, tour coaches use the Lourel peripheral car park and transfer passengers to buses 434/435, while taxis and ride-hailing vehicles may still reach a designated pick-up spot at Pena.
Two hours at Pena goes fast. Allow about 30 minutes from the park's main entrance up to the start of the palace route, on foot or using the paid transfer that runs every 15 minutes and takes wheelchairs on a rear lifting platform. Photography and video are not allowed inside the National Palace of Pena, tripods are forbidden across the sites and drones are banned, so plan your shots in the park. The park covers 85 hectares and the palace interior has stairways throughout, which rules it out for visitors with reduced mobility.
Eight hours in an air-conditioned minivan with up to eight passengers and a local guide, with Pena Palace and Park tickets included or optional depending on the option you select.

The four alternatives below cover the same stretch of coast and hill with different group sizes and budgets. The €27 departure is the cheapest way to see Pena, Cabo da Roca and Cascais in eight hours; the €69 small group buys a smaller vehicle for the same length of day. The two private options cost more and give you the pace: €143 for a full customisable Sintra day, and €69 upwards for a private driver who can run anything from 2 to 12 hours.
