Eight hours in Sintra with a driver/guide for your group alone, three monuments of your choice from the six suggested, and Pena Palace tickets included when you pick the skip-the-line option.
Updated 18 October 2026
One vehicle, one driver/guide, your group and nobody else. Pickup and drop-off are at your hotel in all options, so there is no central meeting point to find at eight in the morning and no waiting for strangers at each stop. The itinerary suggests six Sintra sites and you visit three of them: Quinta da Regaleira, the Park and Palace of Monserrate, the Park and National Palace of Pena, the National Palace of Sintra and the Moorish Castle are the ones marked as suggested monuments, and Cabo da Roca and Cascais are added at the end of the day on the way back to Lisbon.
Pena is the part of the day that rewards planning. The palace interior runs on timed slots with a daily cap, and a ticket admits you only at the exact date and time printed on it, with no early entry and no grace period if you run late. Choose the skip-the-line option and tickets for Pena Palace are included in the price; that single choice removes the one thing that can derail a Sintra day. Lunch is not included, and the hour of free time in the historic centre is where most people eat.
Private vehicles do not reach the monument. The Rampa da Pena, the final approach road, is permanently closed to private cars and used by public transport, and drivers are directed to the historic centre or the peripheral car parks, with the historic centre itself restricted to residents. From the park's main entrance, allow about 30 minutes to reach the start of the palace route on foot, or use the paid transfer that runs every 15 minutes and carries wheelchairs on a rear lifting platform. The palace interior has stairways throughout and is not accessible to visitors with reduced mobility; the last 90 metres from the transfer stop climb at gradients of up to 18%.
Photography and video are not allowed inside the National Palace of Pena. Tripods are forbidden across the Sintra sites and drones are banned, so plan your pictures for the terraces, the ramparts and the park. Pets cannot be brought in; properly identified assistance dogs can.
Eight hours, your own driver/guide, pickup at your hotel, three Sintra monuments of your choice and Pena Palace tickets with the skip-the-line option. Rated 4.8 ★ (1803 reviews).

The half-day private tour at 6 hours from €134 works for a cruise call or a tight schedule, while the 8 to 9 hour Palaces of Pena and Regaleira private tour from €120 is the cheapest private start on this list. The two Sintra and Cascais private tours, from €155 and from €144, keep the coast in the plan and state a Pena ticket as included; this page's tour includes the ticket with the skip-the-line option and lets you pick three monuments instead of a fixed set.
